In a powerful effort to promote environmental awareness and practical sustainability, Trustwired Malaysia and Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) have joined forces to uplift the B40 community through green education. Held at Flat Sri Cempaka, Bandar Sri Damansara, the workshop titled “Grow Together: From Waste to Wonder” introduced residents to the benefits of home composting and waste reduction as a tool for economic resilience.

The initiative, which gathered over 100 participants, was part of HRD Corp’s Central Region – New Sector programme and made possible through a strategic collaboration with environmental education provider EcoGarage and digital solutions company Trustwired Malaysia.

Turning Waste into Opportunity

The half-day session focused on transforming food waste into compost—a sustainable practice that reduces landfill dependence and supports urban gardening. Residents were not only exposed to the environmental benefits of composting but also taught how it can reduce household expenses and even generate income through small-scale compost sales.

“I had no idea food scraps from my kitchen could be turned into something useful,” said Mariam Isa, a 46-year-old resident. “Now I know how to make my own compost. It will save me money and help my garden grow.”
